About the Prize

Extending a legacy of Buddhist digital scholarship.

The Aming Tu Prize commemorates Professor Aming Tu and supports pioneering work in Digital Buddhist Studies. The award recognizes scholars and teams whose projects create durable resources, methods, and research environments for Buddhist Studies.

The prize is maintained by the Library and Information Center, Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts, and reviewed by the AmingTu Award Committee.

Eligibility and Selection

Recognizing open, scholarly, and reusable digital work.

Individuals and collaborative projects may be considered. Eligible work should be accessible online, non-commercial in nature, and meaningful to Buddhist Studies or Digital Humanities research.

Award Cycle and Nomination

A triennial gathering for digital Buddhist scholarship.

The Aming Tu Prize is bestowed every three years. Each award cycle invites nominations from the scholarly community, requests a formal project summary from nominees, and concludes with the Prize Committee's final selection.

Nomination Process

Members of the scholarly community are encouraged to nominate prospective candidates. The call for nominations includes a form for each candidate, covering basic information about the candidate and their project. Self-nominations are accepted, and members of the community may also contact the Prize Committee to facilitate nominations.

Submission Rules and Guidelines

Nominees are contacted by members of the Prize Committee within four weeks after the March nomination deadline. Applications are due by April and should include contact information and a 500-1,500 word summary describing the project or initiative in relation to the objective and criteria of the Prize.

Terms

The prize will be awarded at a ceremony. The winning team will be invited to send a representative to give a lecture at the award ceremony. DILA will provide (economy) travel and accommodation for the representative. The location and format of the award ceremony will be determined by the award committee.
